Burgess Marine Woodsealer is a waterborne, acrylic emulsion with UV blocking inorganic pigments. When applied to timber Burgess Marine Woodsealer dries to form a microporous membrane, sealing the timber from the ravages of the environment whilst allowing the timber to breathe naturally. Developed for the marine market it has been consistently acclaimed by the Marine Press as a quick and economical sealer that can meet the harsh demands of the marine environment.

The UV blocking pigments it contains help to prevent degradation of wood by the sun's rays. It does not crack or craze like varnish. Marine Woodsealer can be used either as a complete treatment leaving a matt finish or as a primer to be over coated with Burgess Marine Top Gloss or Marine Clearsealer

Ideal for use on all exterior wooden and plywood surfaces on a variety of vessels including Smacks and Clinker yachts. Also suitable for decking, strakes and capping rails etc.

Directions For Use

  1. Timber to be coated should be free from all types of paint, varnish, wax, oil and grease.
  2. The surface may be damp but should be drying. Grey weathered wood need not be sanded. New or newly sanded oily woods (i.e. Teak) should be left to
    weather before application.
  3. Burgess Marine Woodsealer can be applied by brush, spray or soft cloth and it is recommended to apply a minimum of two coats. However on very porous timber more coats may be required.
  4. Marine Woodsealer will normally dry in 15 minutes, however additional coats may be applied before each coat has dried.
  5. An air temperature of 5°C - 30°C is preferred, but avoid applying the product if the relative humidity is greater than 80% or when there is a risk of rain or heavy condensation during the drying period.
  6. When applying in confined spaces ensure sufficient air movement is available to remove excess moisture released during the drying process.
  7. Clean all brushes and spray equipment with clean water before the product dries.

Great stuff

I’ve used all types of preservatives on my wood furniture. This stuff is really good, it resists wetting and looks good too. It’s easy to apply with good coverage. None of the others does the job as well as far as I’m concerned.
