Can the Tank Be Used for Petrol and Diesel?

Yes. The range is intended for permanently installed petrol or diesel fuel systems.

All hoses, filler components, vent lines, filters, seals and connectors used with the tank must also be compatible with the selected fuel.

How Do I Select the Correct Tank?

Confirm the complete installation before selecting a tank.

  • Required usable fuel capacity
  • Available installation length
  • Available installation width
  • Available tank-body height
  • Additional clearance above the tank for the porthole, sender and hose connections
  • Space for the filler and vent hoses
  • Access for inspection and maintenance
  • The route from the deck filler to the tank
  • Fuel-feed and return-line routing
  • Tank support and restraint
  • The weight of the tank when filled with fuel
  • Compatibility with the vessel's fuel system and engine

Do not select the 43-litre variant by capacity alone. One version measures 650 × 350 × 230mm, while the other measures 450 × 390 × 290mm.

Which Fuel-Level Senders Are Compatible?

The inspection porthole is prepared for an optional mechanical or electrical fuel-level sender.

  • 230mm-high variants: 03.3820 for 10–180Ω systems or 03.3861 for 240–30Ω systems
  • 290mm-high variants: 03.3821 for 10–180Ω systems or 03.3864 for 240–30Ω systems

The sender must match both the tank depth and the resistance range used by the dashboard fuel gauge. The sender is not included with the tank.

Installation and Safety

A fixed fuel tank is a safety-critical component and should be installed by a competent marine engineer in accordance with the tank instructions, vessel manufacturer's requirements and applicable regulations.

  • Confirm the tank and all fittings are compatible with the selected fuel.
  • Install the tank in its intended orientation.
  • Support and restrain the tank so it cannot move under normal operation, impact or vessel motion.
  • Keep the tank clear of sharp edges, heat sources, exhaust components and moving equipment.
  • Do not drill or modify the tank outside the designated connection points.
  • Allow access to the inspection porthole and all hose connections.
  • Use correctly rated marine fuel hose for filling, venting, supply and return lines.
  • Support hoses so their weight is not carried by the porthole fittings.
  • Route the vent system in accordance with the applicable marine fuel-system requirements.
  • Check that the filler hose does not kink or trap fuel.
  • Confirm that all hose clips and threaded fittings are correctly secured.
  • Leak-test the complete system using the approved installation procedure.
  • Inspect every connection before adding fuel and again after the first operating period.

Maintenance

  • Check the tank body for abrasion, distortion or damage.
  • Inspect the inspection-porthole seal and fasteners.
  • Check the filler, vent, supply and return hoses.
  • Inspect hose clips and threaded connections for leakage.
  • Keep the vent line unobstructed.
  • Check the fuel pick-up and sender for secure installation.
  • Investigate any persistent fuel smell immediately.
  • Keep the tank compartment clean and accessible.
  • Do not use solvents or cleaning products that could damage the polyethylene or seals.
  • Replace damaged hoses, seals or fittings rather than relying on temporary repairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this tank be used with petrol?
Yes. The range is intended for permanently installed petrol or diesel fuel systems.

Is the fuel-level gauge included?
No. The inspection porthole is prepared for an optional mechanical or electrical sender, but the sender and dashboard gauge are not included.

Is the filler-hose connection included?
No. The CAN-SB 06.2151 / UK part 2-20201 filler kit must be ordered separately.

Why are there two 43-litre variants?
They have different footprints. Part 2-20031 measures 650 × 350 × 230mm, while part 2-20010 measures 450 × 390 × 290mm.

Does the listed height include room for the fittings?
The table gives the published tank-body dimensions. Allow additional installation and service clearance above the tank for the porthole, sender, filler, vent and hose connections.

Can I add a diesel return line?
Yes. The inspection-porthole arrangement includes provision for an optional secondary pick-up or diesel-return connection.

Which sender should I order?
Match both the tank height and the resistance range used by the dashboard gauge. The 230mm-high tanks use a different sender length from the 290mm-high tanks.

Can the tank be used for drinking water?
No. This listing is for a fixed fuel tank. Use a purpose-designed potable-water tank for drinking-water storage.

Can I drill the tank for extra fittings?
Do not modify or drill the tank outside the manufacturer's designated fitting locations. Use approved CAN-SB connection components.
