Description
Description
Hempel Ecopower Prop 7446X is a 500ml biocide-free spray coating for propellers and outdrives. It uses a self-renewing binder system to reduce fouling adhesion, making growth easier to remove during maintenance.
Hempel Ecopower Prop 7446X is a biocide-free fouling-control coating developed for propellers, outdrives and associated underwater components. Instead of relying on biocides, it creates a low-adhesion surface that makes it difficult for marine growth to bond firmly to the substrate.
The coating uses a self-renewing binder system that gradually refreshes the surface during use, helping maintain performance throughout the season without excessive paint build-up. This supports easier cleaning and reduced maintenance effort.
Suitable for properly prepared propellers and outdrives, the product is applied as an aerosol spray, allowing consistent coverage on complex shapes and tight areas. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from contaminants. All anodes must be masked before spraying.
Apply in light, even passes from 20–30cm distance, building up several coats. The supplied data sheet specifies a minimum of four coats. Allow at least 24 hours drying at 20°C before immersion.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Hempel Ecopower Prop 7446X used for?
It is used to protect propellers and outdrives by reducing fouling adhesion and simplifying cleaning.
Does it prevent marine growth completely?
No. It reduces how strongly fouling attaches rather than preventing growth entirely.
Can it be applied to anodes?
No. Anodes must be masked and left uncoated.
How many coats should be applied?
Apply several coats. The supplied product data sheet specifies a minimum of four coats.
How much area does it cover?

You only find out whether an antifouling worked at the end of the season. I've tried several alternatives - none truely good - I'm hoping the "Ecopower" proves to be good.
Application on the primer is OK, if a bit prone to runs.
I am not new to Hempel antifoul paints and sprays; good quality products. Very competitive prices from Marine Scene, arrived in good order and promptly.
