Description
Hempel’s Epoxy Filler 35253 is a two-component, solvent-free marine filler for repairing cracks, fissures and small imperfections in glass fibre, hardwood, steel and other rigid materials. It can be applied in layers up to 5mm thick and is suitable for interior and exterior use above and below the waterline.
Hempel’s Epoxy Filler 35253 is a two-component epoxy filling compound developed for local marine repairs and surface preparation. It is suitable for smoothing imperfections, repairing minor pinholes in welds, filling cavities in propellers and keels, and repairing osmosis damage in glass fibre hulls.
Suitable for properly prepared glass fibre, hardwood, steel and other rigid materials, the filler can be used on interior and exterior surfaces above and below the waterline. Uncoated surfaces should be sanded, cleared of dust and primed with one or two coats of the specified Hempel primer. Previously coated surfaces should be abraded, cleaned and dried before application.
Mix Base 35259 and Curing Agent 95250 in equal parts by volume immediately before use. Mix until a uniform colour is achieved while avoiding trapped air, then apply using a putty knife or spatula. The product must not be thinned and can be applied in layers up to 5mm thick.
Once dry, sand the repaired area smooth and apply two coats of the recommended Hempel primer. Topcoat finishes must not be applied directly over the filler. Use a single-component primer where the subsequent topcoat is a single-pack coating.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Hempel’s Epoxy Filler 35253 used for?
It is used to fill cracks, fissures, minor pinholes and small surface imperfections. It can also be used for cavities in propellers and keels and for repairing osmosis damage in glass fibre hulls.
What surfaces can it be applied to?
It is suitable for properly prepared glass fibre, hardwood, steel and other rigid materials.
Can it be used below the waterline?
Yes. Hempel Epoxy Filler 35253 is suitable for interior and exterior use both above and below the waterline.
How thickly can it be applied?
It can be applied in layers up to 5mm thick. Deeper defects may require more than one application, depending on the repair specification.
What is the mixing ratio?
Mix Base 35259 and Curing Agent 95250 at a ratio of 1:1 by volume immediately before application.
Can a topcoat be applied directly over the filler?
No. Sand the filler smooth and apply two coats of the recommended Hempel primer before applying the topcoat.
How much area does it cover?
The theoretical spreading rate is 1m² per litre at a 1mm dry film thickness. Applying a thicker layer will reduce the area covered.
Does it require thinner?
No. The product must not be diluted. Clean application tools with Hempel’s Thinner 845 or Hempel’s Degreaser 99611.
