Hempel Teak Oil

Hempel’s Teak Oil 67571 is a transparent, unpigmented natural oil for new and previously treated teak. It penetrates the timber, helps resist weathering, water and dirt, and contains anti-mould agents. Supplied coverage is 4–12m² per litre, depending on the condition and porosity of the wood.

Hempel’s Teak Oil penetrates into the wood rather than adding a pigmented colour layer. Its transparent formulation maintains the visible character of the teak while making the treated surface easier to clean and more resistant to weathering, water and dirt.

The oil is suitable for maintaining teak decks, trim, seating and other wooden surfaces located above the waterline. It can be used on both new and previously treated wood, including interior and exterior marine woodwork.

Apply one saturation coat to properly prepared wood and allow the oil to absorb. Remove all surplus oil with clean cloths before it dries, as excess product can form a glossy surface film and may soften adjacent sealant. Apply a second coat only where the wood has not become fully saturated.

Surface Preparation and Application Guidance

• Remove oil, grease and other contaminants using a suitable detergent cleaner.
• For new wood, clean the surface with Hempel’s Teak Cleaner.
• Sand rough areas where required.
• Remove dust and loose material before application.
• Ensure the moisture content of new wood is below 16%.
• For previously treated wood, remove all dust and loose material.
• Apply only to a clean, dry surface.
• Ensure the surface temperature is at least 3°C above the dew point.
• Stir the oil thoroughly before use.
• Apply one saturation coat using a brush or roller.
• Allow the oil to penetrate the timber.
• Remove all surplus product with clean cloths before it dries.
• Apply a second coat only if the wood has not become fully saturated.
