Jabsco 23920 Series Utility Puppy Self-Priming Utility Pump

The Jabsco 23920 Utility Puppy range combines a bronze flexible-impeller pump head with a 12V or 24V DC motor. Choose the Utility Puppy 2000 for 29.5 LPM at 3 m head or the larger Utility Puppy 3000 for 44 LPM at 3 m head.

What Is the Utility Puppy Used For?

How Do I Choose Between the 2000 and 3000?

Select the 2000 for approximately 29.5 LPM at 3 m head and systems requiring up to 6 m differential head. Select the 3000 for approximately 44 LPM at 3 m head, up to 12 m differential head and the mechanical shaft-seal design. Then choose 12V or 24V to match the vessel or installation.

What Pipework Is Required?

The listed BSP models have 3/4 in female threaded ports and are designed to work with suitable fittings feeding 25 mm reinforced hose or equivalent low-restriction pipework. Keep suction and discharge runs short and straight, avoid undersized fittings and prevent the suction hose from collapsing.

Can the Pump Run Dry?

After priming, the 2000 model can tolerate a short dry-running period of up to 20 minutes and the 3000 up to 10 minutes under the stated operating conditions. This is not a substitute for correct installation or dry-run control, and prolonged operation without liquid will shorten impeller and seal life.

Installation and Safety

Mount the pump on a dry, ventilated, rigid surface with access for service. If mounted vertically, keep the motor above the pump head. Use correctly sized cable and the specified fuse, confirm polarity and secure the pipework independently. Do not use the pump for petrol, petroleum products or liquids with a flash point below 37°C, or in the presence of flammable vapour.

Maintenance

• Inspect the flexible impeller regularly and replace cracked, permanently set or damaged blades.
• Check the shaft seal for leakage and the bronze pump head for corrosion or scoring.
• Flush the pump after transferring salt water or liquids that may leave deposits.

No. They also differ in maximum differential head, overall length, motor power, fuse rating, weight, shaft-seal type and permitted short dry-running period.

Can I connect 19 mm hose directly to the ports?
The pump has 3/4 in BSP female ports, but Jabsco designs the installation around suitable fittings and 25 mm reinforced hose or equivalent low-restriction pipework. Select adaptors that match the complete system.

Can this pump transfer diesel?
Nitrile components may be suitable for some oil duties, but the pump must never be used for petrol, petroleum liquids with a flash point below 37°C or where flammable vapour is present. Confirm chemical compatibility before use.
