Description
Description
The Lalizas Coastal Compact II Liferaft is a compact, lightweight emergency liferaft for coastal boaters, available in 2-person, 4-person and 6-person capacities. Choose an open model without a canopy or a 4-person or 6-person model with an integrated inflatable canopy.
Each model uses a single-tube, single-compartment structure manufactured from polyurethane-coated nylon fabric. The tubes and floor are thermally bonded using high-frequency, radio-frequency and hot-air welding rather than adhesive. The TPED-approved CO2 cylinder and Lalizas inflation system deploy the raft in less than 30 seconds, while every version is supplied in a compact valise for accessible onboard storage.

What Is the Lalizas Coastal Compact II Used For?
The Coastal Compact II provides an emergency flotation platform following abandonment of a boat in coastal or suitable sheltered-water conditions.
- Coastal sailing and motor boating
- Leisure craft with restricted liferaft storage space
- Yachts, motorboats, RIBs and small workboats
- Owners seeking a lightweight valise-packed liferaft
- Emergency abandonment where a compact raft is required
- Boats where weight and storage volume are important considerations
The raft supplements the vessel's wider safety equipment. It does not replace correctly fitted lifejackets, distress-signalling equipment, communications equipment or a properly prepared emergency grab bag.

What Is the Difference Between the Canopy and Open Models?
The without-canopy models provide the lowest packed weight and an open emergency platform:
- 2-person without canopy
- 4-person without canopy
- 6-person without canopy
The canopy models add overhead protection and an automatically deploying inflatable arch:
- 4-person with canopy
- 6-person with canopy
On canopy-equipped models, the canopy arch is connected directly to the main chamber and inflates as the raft deploys. An oral inflation tube allows the arch pressure to be topped up if required.
How Has the Coastal Compact II Been Updated?
- The canopy arch is connected to the main chamber and inflates automatically.
- Separate manual inflation of the canopy arch is no longer normally required.
- The revised arch provides sufficient support without internal support straps.
- Removing the support straps creates a clearer interior.
- The redesigned canopy uses multiple hook-and-loop attachment points.
- The canopy is easier to position and manage after deployment.
- The external light is positioned at the upper part of the canopy for visibility.
- A two-step boarding ladder replaces the previous single-step arrangement.
- The revised boarding arrangement provides increased support when entering from the water.
How Do I Select the Correct Capacity?
Select a raft with enough rated places for the maximum number of people who may need to board it.
- Maximum number of crew and passengers
- Available deck or locker storage
- Valise dimensions
- Liferaft weight
- Whether a canopy is required
- Vessel operating area
- Flag-state carriage requirements
- Insurance conditions
- Racing or coding requirements
- Accessibility in an emergency
Do not select a smaller raft on the assumption that occupants can exceed its stated capacity.
Should I Choose a Canopy?
Choose a canopy model where protection from wind, spray, rain and exposure is a priority.
- Longer expected rescue times
- Colder or exposed operating areas
- Night passages
- Coastal cruising beyond immediate harbour waters
- Crews that may benefit from additional shelter
An open version provides lower weight and simpler access but does not provide overhead shelter.
How Does the Integrated Canopy Work?
- The inflatable canopy arch is connected to the main chamber.
- The arch inflates during normal raft deployment.
- The canopy deploys with the raft without a separate manual inflation stage.
- The canopy is retained using multiple attachment points.
- An oral inflation tube is fitted to the canopy arch.
- The arch can be topped up manually if additional pressure is required.

How Is the Liferaft Deployed?
Always follow the instructions attached to the raft and the vessel's emergency plan.
- Remove the valise from its stowage position.
- Secure the painter line to a suitable vessel strong point.
- Throw the liferaft clear of the vessel and any obstructions.
- Pull out the painter line fully.
- Pull firmly to activate the CO2 inflation system.
- Allow the raft to inflate clear of the vessel.
- Pull the inflated raft alongside for boarding.
- Board using the ladder.
- Deploy the sea anchor when safe to do so.
- Cut the painter only when separation from the vessel is necessary.
Inflation System and Equipment
The raft uses a Lalizas CO2 inflation system certified according to ISO 15738:2019. The published inflation time is less than 30 seconds.
- The painter connects the raft to the vessel and activates inflation.
- The sea anchor helps reduce drifting.
- The bailer removes water from inside the raft.
- The manual pump restores pressure if required.
- The floating knife can be used to cut the painter.
- The water-activated LED light assists visibility.
- The water pockets increase stability after filling.
Storage and Installation
- Keep the raft in a dry, ventilated and accessible position.
- Protect the valise from fuel, oil, battery acid and solvents.
- Keep it away from sharp objects and excessive heat.
- Do not place heavy equipment on top of the valise.
- Do not open or repack the raft outside an authorised service environment.
- Secure the raft so it cannot move during normal vessel operation.
- Keep the painter accessible and correctly arranged.
- Ensure the deployment route is not blocked by rails, covers or equipment.
- Record the manufacturing and next-service information in the vessel's safety records.
