What Is the Lalizas SeaCover Used For?

The Lalizas SeaCover is used to protect an outboard motor from rain, spray, sunlight, airborne dirt and dust while the engine is not operating.

The range is available in two configurations:

• Top cover: Covers the engine cowling or powerhead but not the shaft.
• Full-body cover: Covers the cowling and extends down over the engine shaft.

Which Cover Type Should I Choose?

Choose a top cover when the main requirement is to protect the engine cowling. These models have an elastic cord around the opening to hold the cover around the lower edge of the cowling.

Choose a full-body cover when protection is required for both the cowling and the engine shaft. Full-body models use an elastic cord and zip to make fitting the longer cover easier.

How Do I Select the Correct Size?

Do not select the cover using horsepower alone. The stated HP bands are approximate because engines with the same nominal output can have different external dimensions.

Check all of the following:

• Engine cowling length, width and height
• Two-stroke or four-stroke engine design
• Tiller or throttle-grip length
• Engine manufacturer and model
• Production year
• Accessories or controls projecting beyond the normal cowling profile

When the engine is between two sizes, select the cover that provides sufficient clearance without excessively loose material.

How Do I Measure for a Top Cover?

Measure the cowling using the three Lalizas dimensions:

• A: Cowling length
• B: Cowling width
• C: Cowling height

When measuring height, include enough of the upper shaft below the cowling to allow the elasticated edge to close underneath the engine top. Select the cover whose A, B and C dimensions are equal to or larger than the measured engine dimensions.

How Do I Measure for a Full-Body Cover?

1. Measure the engine's overall height, identified as B.
2. Measure the engine width, identified as W.
3. Calculate B minus half of W.
4. Select a cover whose published Dimension B is at least the calculated requirement.
5. Confirm that Dimension A also provides sufficient space for the engine profile and tiller.

For example, an engine with a 210 cm overall height and 50 cm width produces a calculated requirement of 185 cm:

210 cm − 25 cm = 185 cm
