Lofrans Royal Horizontal Manual Windlass - With Drum

The Lofrans Royal is a manually operated horizontal anchor windlass with an independent chain gypsy and rope drum. It requires no electrical power, provides a listed maximum pull of 400kg and is available for calibrated 6mm, 7mm, 8mm or 10mm anchor chain, depending on the selected MPN.

The Royal is installed on deck and uses a horizontal shaft arrangement. This configuration is suitable for boats with reduced-height or limited-volume chain lockers because the operating mechanism remains above deck and is readily accessible for inspection and maintenance.

Its body is manufactured from marine-grade aluminium with an anodised finish. The chain gypsy and warping drum can be operated independently, allowing the gypsy to handle compatible calibrated anchor chain while the drum is used for rope handling during warping or mooring operations.

Is 400kg the working load?
No. The listed maximum pull is 400kg, while the current listed working load is 70kg. Maximum pull is a short-duration peak figure and should not be interpreted as the normal operating load.

How much chain-locker clearance is required?
There must be at least 300mm of vertical clearance between the underside of the deck and the top of the fully stacked chain. Insufficient clearance can prevent the chain from falling correctly and cause the windlass to malfunction.
