Description
Description
The Majoni Pear Pick-Up Buoy is a high-visibility orange inflatable buoy with an integral moulded handle. It is available in 15 x 35 cm and 18 x 40 cm sizes, with published buoyancy figures of 5 kg and 8 kg respectively.
Its pear-shaped body and top handle make a mooring pick-up line easier to locate and retrieve from the deck. The handle opening accepts rope up to approximately 22 mm diameter, subject to the rope construction and splice or knot dimensions.

What Is the Majoni Pick-Up Buoy Used For?
It marks and floats the pick-up end of a mooring line so the line can be recovered from the water using a boat hook or by hand. The bright orange body improves visibility and the moulded handle provides a defined lifting point.
What Is Included?
- One orange Majoni Pear Pick-Up Buoy in the selected size
- Integral moulded handle
- Factory-fitted inflation valve
What Is Not Included?
- Mooring rope or pick-up line
- Boat hook
- Shackles, thimbles or splicing service
- Inflation adaptor or pump
How Do I Select the Correct Size?
Select according to the diameter and weight of the pick-up line, the amount of hardware that must be supported, visibility requirements and local water conditions. The published buoyancy is not a working-load rating and must not be used to lift or suspend a person.
How Should the Rope Be Attached?
- Use rope no larger than the stated handle capacity.
- Allow for the increased diameter of knots, splices and protective sleeving.
- Use a secure marine knot or professionally formed splice.
- Position the buoy so the pick-up line remains accessible but cannot foul the propeller.
- Inspect the rope where it bears against the handle.
Construction and Design
- Pear-shaped inflatable body
- High-visibility orange colour
- Integral moulded pick-up handle
- Two size and buoyancy options
- Majoni brass-valve inflation system
- Soft body limits marking if it contacts the hull
Inflation and Safety
Inflate gradually to approximately 0.2 bar or until firm but hand-compressible. Use the correct Majoni adaptor or a flat air nozzle and never insert a needle. The buoy is a mooring-line marker and flotation aid; it is not a life-saving appliance or lifting device.
Maintenance
- Rinse after exposure to salt, mud or harbour contamination.
- Inspect the body, handle, rope and valve regularly.
- Check that the buoy remains inflated and clearly visible.
- Replace the rope if it shows glazing, cuts or wear at the handle.
- Store clean, dry and away from sharp objects.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is mooring rope included?
No. The product is the buoy only.
What rope diameter fits through the handle?
The stated maximum is approximately 22 mm, but knots, splices and sleeves may require additional clearance.
Can I use the buoy to lift equipment?
No. The buoyancy figure is not a certified lifting or safe-working-load rating.
Is it a life-saving buoy?
No. It is a mooring pick-up buoy and is not approved as personal flotation or rescue equipment.
How should it be inflated?
Use the correct Majoni valve adaptor or a flat air nozzle and keep the body firm but compressible.
