Description

The Multiflex K3 / LM-K-3 Universal Control Cable Clamp secures the stationary outer section of one compatible EC-133 or EEC-133 engine control cable to a rigid support bracket. The K3 holds the cable casing in position while allowing the moving inner cable to operate a compatible gear-shift, throttle or other push-pull control mechanism.

Multiflex specifies the K3 for its standard EC-133 and low-friction EEC-133 cable families. It is also described as suitable for compatible 30 Series-type cables with 3/16in UNF threaded rods.

What Is the Multiflex K3 Used For?

A push-pull engine control cable contains a stationary outer casing and a moving inner cable. The K3 secures the stationary section so movement from the remote control is transferred through the inner cable rather than moving the complete cable assembly.

The K3 can form part of a correctly specified:

  • Gear-shift control installation
  • Throttle-control installation
  • Outboard engine control system
  • Inboard engine control system
  • Sterndrive control system
  • Gearbox control installation
  • Industrial push-pull cable control
  • Replacement EC-133 cable installation
  • Replacement EEC-133 Edge cable installation
  • Compatible 30 Series cable installation

The K3 is a mounting component only. It does not replace the remote control, control cable or engine-side linkage fitting.

What Is Included?

This listing is for:

  • One Multiflex K3 / LM-K-3 control cable clamp assembly

Published product imagery shows a formed cable-retaining body, rear retaining section and two threaded fasteners with nuts. Multiflex does not publish a complete itemised loose-parts list or separately identify a flat shim, washers or fastener dimensions.

Not included unless expressly stated:

  • EC-133 control cable
  • EEC-133 control cable
  • Remote control lever or control box
  • Structural support bracket
  • Engine-side cable adaptor
  • Gearbox-side cable adaptor
  • Clevis
  • Ball joint
  • Eye end
  • Threaded terminal fitting
  • A second control cable clamp
  • Other installation-specific hardware

Which Control Cables Are Compatible?

  • Multiflex EC-133
  • Multiflex EEC-133
  • Compatible 30 Series-type control cables with 3/16in UNF rods, subject to clamp-hub verification

Which Ultraflex and SeaStar Cables Correspond to These Multiflex Cables?

Multiflex EC-133

  • Ultraflex equivalent: C8
  • SeaStar / Dometic equivalents: CC330 Premium and CC199

Multiflex EEC-133

  • Ultraflex equivalent: MACHZero
  • SeaStar / Dometic equivalent: CCX633

Cross-references identify comparable cable families but do not guarantee identical clamp hubs or mounting dimensions.

Is the K3 Suitable for 33C / 3300 Control Cables?

Yes. The EC-133 and EEC-133 belong to the universal 3300-style cable format commonly known as 33C.

Correct fitment still depends on:

  • Cable manufacturer and model
  • Clamp-hub construction
  • Outer-casing diameter
  • Clamp-hub width and length
  • Support-bracket geometry
  • Fastener arrangement
  • Available installation space

Is the Multiflex EC-033 Compatible?

The official K3 product data specifically list EC-133 and EEC-133. They do not specifically name EC-033.

Although the K3 is also described for compatible 30 Series cables, EC-033 / Ultraflex C2 fit should be checked against the physical clamp before being presented as direct compatibility.

Is the K3 the Multiflex Equivalent of the Ultraflex L14?

The K3 is the closest Multiflex functional counterpart to the Ultraflex L14 for compatible universal control cables.

Multiflex K3

  • Formed wraparound clamp
  • Two-fastener retaining arrangement
  • Officially listed for EC-133 and EEC-133
  • No published dimensions or fixing-hole centres

Ultraflex L14

  • Saddle clamp
  • Separate flat cable shim
  • Two bolts, washers and nuts
  • Listed for C2, C8 and MACHZero
  • Published dimensions of 39 x 13 x 12mm
  • Published fixing-hole centres of 26mm

The products perform the same job but should not be treated as guaranteed dimensional replacements.

Can the L14 Dimensions Be Used for the K3?

No. Do not assign the following L14 specifications to the K3 without physically measuring the K3:

  • 39mm overall length
  • 13mm overall width
  • 12mm overall height
  • 10mm internal diameter
  • 5mm fixing holes
  • 26mm fixing-hole centres
  • M5 x 12mm bolts

How Does the K3 Clamp Work?

  1. Position the cable clamp hub inside the K3.
  2. Align the clamp with the support bracket.
  3. Install and tighten the two retaining fasteners evenly.
  4. Confirm that the cable outer remains stationary.
  5. Check that the cable inner moves through its complete stroke.
  6. Connect the moving rod end to the required control linkage.

Does the 10-32 UNF Cable Thread Attach to the K3?

No. The K3 clamps the stationary cable outer or clamp hub. The 10-32 UNF threaded rod end connects separately to a clevis, ball joint, eye end, adaptor or engine linkage.

Does the K3 Hold One or Two Control Cables?

The K3 holds one control cable. Separate shift and throttle cables may require one clamp for each cable.

Is the Support Bracket Included?

No separate structural support bracket is identified as part of the K3 supply. The clamp must be installed on a rigid support with compatible fixing positions and sufficient clearance for the cable rod to complete its full travel.

Does the K3 Connect the Cable to the Engine?

No. The K3 retains the stationary cable outer. A separate clevis, ball joint, eye end, pivot or engine-specific connection kit is required to connect the moving cable rod to the engine or gearbox linkage.

Can the K3 Be Used with Steering Cables?

No. The K3 is an engine and industrial control cable clamp. It should not be used as a mechanical steering cable clamp or hydraulic hose support.

How Does the K3 Differ From the Multiflex K4?

Multiflex K3

  • Regular universal control cable clamp
  • Specified for EC-133 and EEC-133
  • Suitable for compatible 30 Series / 33C-style cables

Multiflex K4

  • Heavy-duty control cable clamp
  • Specified for the larger EC-043 cable series

What Are the K3 Dimensions?

Multiflex does not publish the overall dimensions, internal clamp diameter, fixing-hole diameter, fixing-hole centres, fastener size or maximum retention load for the K3.

Check the physical K3, selected cable clamp hub and intended mounting bracket before drilling or modifying the installation.

  • Check the fixing positions against the physical K3
  • Do not use the Ultraflex L14 hole centres without measuring
  • Mount the clamp to a rigid structural support
  • Position the cable in line with the engine or gearbox linkage
  • Avoid forcing the cable sideways
  • Do not crush or deform the cable outer
  • Tighten both fasteners evenly
  • Secure all nuts against loosening
  • Maintain the cable manufacturer's minimum bend radius
  • Keep the cable away from heat, sharp edges and moving machinery
  • Confirm that the cable inner moves freely after clamping
  • Operate the control through its full range
  • Confirm correct gear engagement and throttle return where applicable
  • Inspect the clamp and support bracket regularly
  • Replace bent, cracked, loose or excessively corroded components
  • Do not operate the control system if the cable binds

Engine shift and throttle controls are safety-critical systems. Installation should be completed according to the current Multiflex, engine and remote-control instructions by a competent marine technician.
