Description

Tecnoseal 00100P Series heavy disc rudder anodes are higher-mass centre-fix sacrificial anodes for compatible rudders, trim tabs and other electrically connected underwater metal components. The combined range includes six circular sizes from Ø50mm to Ø140mm, with aluminium versions of every size. Match the outside diameter, overall height, centre-recess diameter and fixing-hole diameter before selecting the alloy.

What Is This Heavy Disc Anode Used For?

The anode mounts against a suitable rudder, trim tab or other underwater metal component through its central fixing. When installed with the required direct electrical continuity, the sacrificial alloy is consumed in preference to the connected underwater metalwork.

Some installations use one disc, while others use two matching discs on opposite faces of the protected component. Confirm the original mounting arrangement before ordering and use matching sizes and alloys where a pair is required.

Available Sizes and Part Numbers

  • 00100P family: Ø50mm × 16mm, Ø21mm centre recess and Ø7.5mm fixing hole.
  • 00101P family: Ø70mm × 17mm, Ø22mm centre recess and Ø8.5mm fixing hole.
  • 00102P family: Ø90mm × 20mm, Ø27mm centre recess and Ø10mm fixing hole.
  • 00103P family: Ø110mm × 22mm, Ø31mm centre recess and Ø12mm fixing hole.
  • 00104P family: Ø125mm × 26mm, Ø31mm centre recess and Ø11mm fixing hole.
  • 00105P family: Ø140mm × 33mm, Ø31mm centre recess and Ø11mm fixing hole.

How Do I Select the Correct Size?

Match the replacement to the complete geometry of the existing anode and mounting arrangement:

  • Outside diameter: Confirm the full disc diameter.
  • Overall height: Check the casting height and available clearance.
  • Centre recess: Confirm the Ø1 recessed seating diameter.
  • Fixing hole: Confirm the Ø2 centre-hole diameter and the required hardware.
  • Mounting arrangement: Check whether the component uses one disc or two opposed matching discs.

Do not select the replacement from outside diameter alone. Several models share similar centre dimensions, while others use different hole or recess sizes despite appearing visually similar.

How Is the 00100P Series Different from the Standard 00100 Series?

The P-suffix range is Tecnoseal's heavy-disc family and is not the same as the standard non-P 00100 Series. For example, the Ø50mm 00100P measures 16mm high with a Ø21mm recess and Ø7.5mm fixing hole, while the standard Ø50mm 00100 has a different height, recess and fixing-hole geometry.

Do not treat a standard and heavy-disc model as interchangeable because the outside diameter matches. Confirm the complete part number and all four dimensions before ordering.

Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?

  • Aluminium: Generally selected for salt or brackish water and lower in mass than the equivalent zinc casting.

Use the alloy specified by the vessel, equipment or cathodic-protection-system manufacturer. Keep the replacement consistent with the vessel's existing anode strategy unless a qualified marine-corrosion specialist specifies otherwise.

Water salinity, connected metals, shore-power arrangements, bonding condition and stray-current activity can affect the correct selection.

Installation and Maintenance

Remove the existing anode and clean the disc seating face, centre fixing and required electrical-contact surfaces to clean bare metal. Remove corrosion products, loose paint, grease, sealant and debris from any surface that must provide electrical continuity.

Fit the replacement with suitable serviceable hardware and follow the vessel or equipment manufacturer's tightening procedure. Confirm that the anode is secure and electrically connected to the component it protects.

Do not paint the sacrificial casting or its required contact surfaces. Inspect the anode during scheduled servicing and replace it when substantially consumed, cracked, damaged or loose. Unusually rapid or uneven consumption can indicate incorrect alloy selection, poor electrical continuity, bonding faults or stray-current activity.

Alloy Standards and Manufacture

Tecnoseal manufactures sacrificial anodes at its foundry in Grosseto, Tuscany, and checks alloy composition using spectrometric measurements against the applicable material specification:

  • Aluminium alloy: US Mil Spec A24779 SH

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the outside diameter the only measurement that matters? No. Match the overall height, centre-recess diameter and centre fixing-hole diameter as well.
  • Is 00100P the same as 00100? No. The P-suffix identifies the heavy-disc family; standard non-P models can use different heights, recesses and fixing holes.
  • Is fixing hardware included? The manufacturer series data does not identify an included fixing set. Check the individual product offer and source the correct hardware where required.
  • Can the anode be painted? No. Keep the sacrificial alloy and required electrical-contact surfaces free from paint, grease and insulating sealant.
  • Should opposed disc anodes be replaced together? Where the installation uses two matching discs, inspect both and normally renew them together using the same size and alloy.
