Tecnoseal 00101 Series Rubber Heavy Duty UK Disc Rudder Anode Backing Pad

Tecnoseal GUA101UK, GUA102UK and GUA105UK neoprene disc-anode backing pads are model-specific mounting pads for the corresponding 00101UK, 00102UK and 00105UK heavy-duty UK-pattern disc-anode families. Each pad fits between the matching disc anode and mounting surface, helping protect the surface and provide a shaped bedding layer beneath the anode. The pad is not a sacrificial anode and does not replace the electrical connection required by the vessel's cathodic-protection system.

What Are These Backing Pads Used For?

The pad is positioned between the matching Tecnoseal heavy-duty disc anode and the rudder, trim tab or other mounting surface. It helps separate the anode casting from the surface coating and provides a consistent interface beneath the anode.

The sacrificial anode must still have the electrical continuity required by the original installation. Neoprene does not conduct electricity and must not cover a fixing, insert or contact area that is intended to provide a direct connection between the anode and protected metal.

How Do I Select the Correct Backing Pad?

Match the pad to the base anode family number:

• GUA101UK: Select for a 00101UK-family anode.

• GUA105UK: Select for a 00105UK-family anode.

The anode alloy does not change the pad selection. For example, the 00102UK zinc, 00102UKAL aluminium and 00102UKMG magnesium anodes all use the GUA102UK backing-pad pattern.

Before ordering, confirm the existing anode part number and complete geometry. Do not select the pad solely from the approximate outside diameter because the 00102UK pattern is non-circular and the three families use different centre recesses and fixing holes.

Tecnoseal currently publishes the pad part number, material, weight and matching anode family, but does not publish complete pad dimensions for GUA101UK, GUA102UK or GUA105UK. The base anode family should therefore remain the primary compatibility reference.

Installation Guidance

Remove the existing anode and inspect the mounting surface, centre fixing and electrical-contact arrangement. Remove loose paint, corrosion deposits, old pad material and trapped debris.

Position the replacement pad flat against the mounting surface without folds, stretching or distortion. Align the matching anode and refit it using suitable serviceable hardware and the vessel or equipment manufacturer's tightening procedure.

Ensure the pad does not cover or interrupt an electrical-contact point required by the installation. The anode's insert, centre fixing or bonding arrangement must remain connected to the protected metal as specified by the vessel's cathodic-protection design.
