Tecnoseal 00270 Series Rubber Bolt On Bar Hull Anode Backing Pad

Tecnoseal GUA271E, GUA272E and GUA273E neoprene bar-anode backing pads are model-specific bedding pads for the corresponding 00271E, 00272E and 00273E UK-type bolt-on bar-anode families. Each pad fits between the anode casting and the hull or mounting surface, helping protect the surface and distribute contact pressure beneath the anode. The pad itself is not a sacrificial anode and does not replace the electrical connection required by the vessel's cathodic-protection system.

What Are These Backing Pads Used For?

The backing pad follows the mounting footprint of its corresponding Tecnoseal bar-anode family. It provides a shaped layer between the anode body and the hull coating or mounting surface.

The sacrificial anode must still be electrically connected to the protected metal through its integral strap, mounting studs or specified bonding arrangement. Neoprene does not provide electrical continuity and must not cover a contact point that the installation requires to remain bare metal.

Match the backing pad to the base anode family number:

The anode alloy does not change the backing-pad model where the base family remains the same. For example, the zinc, aluminium and magnesium versions of the 00272E family all use the GUA272E-pattern pad.

Before ordering, confirm the anode part number, body footprint, fixing centres and pad outline. Do not select the pad from its appearance, approximate weight or fixing-centre measurement alone.

Installation Guidance

Remove the existing anode and inspect the mounting surface, fixing points and electrical-contact arrangement. Clean away paint flakes, corrosion products, old pad material and trapped debris.

Position the backing pad flat against the mounting surface without folds or distortion, then align the matching anode and refit it with suitable serviceable hardware. Follow the vessel or equipment manufacturer's tightening procedure.
