Description

Tecnoseal 00101E Series zinc pair disc anodes are matched two-disc sacrificial-anode sets for through-bolt installation on opposite sides of compatible rudders, trim tabs and underwater plates. The combined zinc range includes Ø70mm, Ø90mm and Ø130mm sizes, each using a 13mm centre boss and Ø8.5mm fixing hole. Every selected size is supplied as two matching anode halves with fastening hardware.

What Is This Pair of Disc Anodes Used For?

One zinc anode half is installed on each side of the protected rudder, trim tab or underwater plate. The central fastening passes through the component and holds the two halves together.

When the anode faces and fastening arrangement provide the required electrical continuity, the zinc is consumed in preference to the connected underwater metal, helping reduce galvanic corrosion.

These products are classed by Tecnoseal as Spanish-type pair disc anodes. The complete diameter, disc thickness, centre-boss height and fixing-hole diameter must match the existing installation.

Available Sizes and Part Numbers

  • 00101E: Ø70mm outside diameter, 6.5mm disc-side thickness, 13mm centre-boss height and Ø8.5mm fixing hole. Approximate set weight: 0.250kg.
  • 00102E: Ø90mm outside diameter, 7.7mm disc-side thickness, 13mm centre-boss height and Ø8.5mm fixing hole. Approximate set weight: 0.440kg.

How Do I Select the Correct Size?

Confirm all of the following measurements before ordering:

  • Outside diameter: Select Ø70mm, Ø90mm or Ø130mm.
  • Disc-side thickness: Match the thickness of each individual anode half.
  • Centre-boss height: All three models use a nominal 13mm centre boss.
  • Fixing-hole diameter: All three models use a nominal Ø8.5mm centre hole.
  • Available clearance: Check that both anode halves fit correctly on opposite sides of the component.
  • Fastening arrangement: Confirm that the supplied through-fastening suits the existing mounting geometry.
  • Existing part number: Match 00101E, 00102E or 00104E wherever the original code is available.

Do not select the replacement by outside diameter alone. A correct pair must seat securely on both sides of the protected component and retain the intended electrical contact through the installation.

Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?

  • Zinc: A conventional selection for salt-water operation where zinc is specified by the vessel or equipment manufacturer.

This combined listing contains zinc variants only. Use an alloy that is compatible with the operating water, connected metals and the vessel's wider cathodic-protection system. Do not change from another alloy to zinc solely because the physical dimensions match.

Installation and Maintenance

Remove both halves of the existing anode and inspect the mounting faces, centre bore and fastening arrangement. Clean corrosion deposits, loose paint, grease, sealant and other insulating material from surfaces that must provide electrical continuity.

Position one anode half on each side of the rudder, trim tab or underwater plate. Fit the fastening through the complete assembly and tighten it using the vessel or equipment manufacturer's procedure. The two halves must seat securely without rocking or distorting the protected component.

Do not paint the zinc castings or their required electrical-contact surfaces. Inspect both halves during scheduled servicing and replace the complete pair when substantially consumed, cracked, damaged or loose.

Unusually rapid or uneven consumption can indicate poor electrical contact, incorrect alloy selection, bonding faults or stray-current activity.

Alloy Standards and Manufacture

Tecnoseal manufactures sacrificial anodes at its foundry in Grosseto, Tuscany. The company states that alloy compliance is checked through scheduled spectrometric measurements.

  • Zinc alloy: US Mil Spec A-18001K

Tecnoseal states that its anodes are designed and manufactured according to the chemical composition specified by the relevant US military standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is each option one disc or a pair? Each selected size is supplied as two matching zinc anode halves for installation on opposite sides of the protected component.
  • Is fastening hardware included? Yes. The supplied configuration includes fastening hardware.
  • Can I fit only one half? No. Use the complete matched pair specified for the installation. Fitting one half changes the mounting and cathodic-protection arrangement.
  • Are the three sizes interchangeable? No. Their outside diameters, disc thicknesses and weights differ.
  • Do all three sizes use the same centre fixing hole? Yes. Tecnoseal currently specifies a nominal Ø8.5mm fixing hole for 00101E, 00102E and 00104E.
  • Why is there no 00103E option? Tecnoseal's current series lists 00101E at Ø70mm, 00102E at Ø90mm and 00104E at Ø130mm. No 110mm zinc version is shown in this series.
  • Is this listing suitable for fresh water? Zinc is generally associated with salt-water applications. Use the alloy specified by the vessel or equipment manufacturer for the actual operating conditions.
  • Can the zinc surfaces be painted? No. Paint prevents the sacrificial material from operating correctly and may interrupt the required electrical contact.
  • Should both halves be replaced together? Yes. Inspect and replace the two halves as a matched set.
