Tecnoseal Mercury/MerCruiser Bravo III 2004-on anode kits are complete six-piece sacrificial-anode sets for compatible Bravo III sterndrives. Each selected alloy kit contains two flat plate anodes, two trim-cylinder or lift-ram anodes, one propeller-nut anode and one driveshaft or cavitation-plate anode. Zinc, aluminium and magnesium versions are available, with fixing hardware included in every kit.

Mercury's current equivalent aluminium and magnesium kit records specify compatibility with Bravo III sterndrives from serial number 0M179452 and above, commonly described by Mercury as 2003 and newer. Because model-year descriptions differ slightly, confirm the drive serial number and compare all six existing anode positions before ordering.

This kit is not the same as the earlier Bravo II–III kit, which uses a different component configuration. The KITBRAVOIII-04 range includes the additional flat plate and propeller-nut anode required by the later six-piece Bravo III arrangement.

Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?

• Zinc: A conventional choice for salt-water operation where zinc is specified by the vessel or drive manufacturer.
• Aluminium: Mercury specifies its equivalent Bravo III aluminium kit for fresh or salt water. Aluminium is also commonly selected for salt or brackish-water operation.
• Magnesium: Intended for fresh-water use only. Mercury states that its equivalent magnesium kit is for freshwater applications.

Use one matched alloy throughout the sterndrive kit. Do not mix zinc, aluminium and magnesium anodes unless Mercury, the vessel manufacturer or a qualified marine-corrosion specialist has specified that arrangement.

Water salinity, connected metals, the vessel's fixed anodes, shore-power installation, bonding condition and stray-current activity can affect the correct alloy selection.

How Do I Confirm Compatibility?

Before ordering, check:

Remove all existing anodes and clean each mounting face, fixing point and required electrical-contact surface to clean bare metal. Paint, corrosion deposits, grease, sealant and other insulating materials can prevent the direct electrical contact required for sacrificial protection.

Fit all six replacement anode pieces using the supplied hardware and the Mercury/MerCruiser installation and tightening procedure. Confirm that each anode sits securely and has electrical continuity with the component it protects.

Do not paint the sacrificial castings or their contact surfaces. Inspect the anodes periodically and replace the complete set when the components are substantially consumed, damaged, cracked or loose.

Unusually rapid or uneven consumption can indicate unsuitable alloy selection, poor electrical continuity, bonding faults, shore-power problems or stray-current activity.
