Tecnoseal Mercury / Mercruiser Bravo 2 & 3 Anode Engine Kit

Tecnoseal Mercury/MerCruiser Bravo II–III sterndrive anode kits are complete four-piece replacement sets for compatible Bravo II and earlier Bravo III drives. Each selected alloy kit contains one driveshaft or cavitation-plate anode, one flat trim-tab anode and two lift-ram or trim-cylinder anodes. Zinc, aluminium and magnesium options are available, with fixing hardware included in every kit.

Which Drive Is This Kit For?

Confirmed Bravo II application: Mercury/MerCruiser Bravo II drives from 1988 onwards, serial number 0B664190 and above.

Confirmed Bravo III application: Mercury/MerCruiser Bravo III drives from 1995 to 2002, serial number 0F345868 to 0M179451.

The serial number and existing four-anode arrangement should be treated as the primary compatibility checks.

Important: This kit is not the correct configuration for later Bravo III drives beginning at serial number 0M179452. Those drives use the separate KITBRAVOIII-04 six-piece kit, which adds a second flat plate and a propeller-nut anode.

What Is Included?

Every alloy option contains four sacrificial-anode pieces manufactured from the selected material:

All four components within a selected kit are manufactured from the same alloy. The kit does not contain mixed zinc, aluminium and magnesium parts.

How Is This Kit Different from the Bravo III 2004-On Kit?

The KITBRAVOII-III configuration contains one 00815 driveshaft/cavitation-plate anode, one 00820 flat trim-tab anode and two 00818 lift-ram anodes.

The later KITBRAVOIII-04 configuration contains those four positions plus one additional 00835 flat plate and one 00836 propeller-nut anode.

Do not substitute the four-piece kit for the later six-piece Bravo III kit solely because both are described as Bravo III products. Confirm the serial number and physical anode positions.

Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?

• Zinc: Select where zinc is specified for the drive and operating conditions; conventionally associated with salt-water operation.
• Aluminium: Mercury specifies its equivalent four-piece aluminium kit for fresh-water or salt-water use.
• Magnesium: Intended for fresh-water operation only.

Use one matched alloy throughout the kit. Do not mix zinc, aluminium and magnesium components unless Mercury, the vessel manufacturer or a qualified marine-corrosion specialist has specified that arrangement.

Water salinity, connected metals, fixed hull anodes, shore-power arrangements, bonding condition and stray-current activity can affect the correct alloy selection.

How Do I Confirm Compatibility?

Before ordering, check:

• The drive is a Bravo II or an earlier Bravo III.
• A Bravo II drive is serial number 0B664190 or later.
• A Bravo III drive is within serial range 0F345868–0M179451.
• The existing installation uses one driveshaft-plate anode.
• One flat trim-tab anode is fitted.
• Two lift-ram or trim-cylinder anodes are fitted.
• No later Bravo III propeller-nut anode or additional plate is required.
• The selected alloy is appropriate for the operating water and existing cathodic-protection system.
• The drive has not been modified with non-standard trim cylinders, housings or anode positions.

Do not select this kit solely by engine horsepower, vessel manufacturer or the general description “Bravo III”.

Installation and Maintenance

Remove all four existing anode pieces and inspect the anode seats, fixing points and required electrical-contact surfaces. Remove corrosion products, paint, grease, sealant and debris from any area that must provide direct metal-to-metal continuity.

Fit the driveshaft plate, trim-tab anode and both lift-ram anodes using the supplied hardware and the Mercury/MerCruiser installation and tightening procedure. Confirm that each component is secure and electrically connected to the part it protects.

Do not paint the sacrificial castings or their contact faces. Inspect the anodes periodically and replace them when approximately half consumed, substantially pitted, damaged or loose.

Unusually rapid or uneven consumption can indicate an unsuitable alloy, poor electrical continuity, bonding faults, shore-power problems or stray-current activity.

Alloy Standards and Manufacture

Tecnoseal manufactures zinc, aluminium and magnesium sacrificial anodes at its foundry in Grosseto, Tuscany. Alloy composition is checked through spectrometric testing:
