Tecnoseal KITVOLVO290 Volvo Penta 290 single-prop anode kits are complete two-piece sacrificial-anode sets for compatible 290/SP sterndrives. Each alloy option contains one 00703-series lower-gear collar and one 00708-series transom-shield anode, with fixing hardware included. Zinc, aluminium and magnesium variants are available.

This kit is for compatible Volvo Penta 290 and SP single-prop installations using a 00703-series lower-gear collar and a 00708-series transom-shield bar anode.

This kit is not suitable for a DuoProp drive. DuoProp kits use a 00704BIS-series drive ring instead of the 00703 lower-gear collar.

How Is This Kit Different from the DuoProp Kits?

The KITVOLVO290 single-prop kit contains one 00703-series lower-gear collar and one 00708-series transom-shield anode.

The KITVOLVODP290 DuoProp kit replaces the 00703 collar with a 00704BIS-series DuoProp drive ring. The KITVOLVODP290-C Plus kit also includes two additional 00717 triangular plate anodes.

Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?

• Zinc: For salt water where zinc is specified or aluminium is unavailable.
• Aluminium: Volvo Penta's recommended alloy for salt and brackish water.
• Magnesium: For fresh water only.

Do not choose the alloy solely from the physical fit. The complete vessel protection system and operating water must also be considered.

How Do I Confirm Compatibility?

• Confirm that the drive is a single-prop 290/SP installation, not a DuoProp.
• Check that the existing lower-gear collar matches the 00703 pattern.
• Check that the transom-shield anode matches the 00708 pattern.
• Inspect the mounting seats and fixing threads for modification or damage.
• Select the alloy required for the water type and existing protection system.

Installation and Maintenance

Remove both existing anodes and clean the lower-gear collar seat, transom-shield mounting face, fixing points and electrical-contact surfaces to clean bare metal.

Fit the new collar and transom-shield anode using the included hardware and the Volvo Penta tightening procedure. Confirm secure metal-to-metal contact.

Do not paint the anodes. Inspect them during servicing and replace them when approximately half consumed or earlier if damaged, cracked or loose.
