Tecnoseal Volvo Penta 290-C DuoProp Series Plus anode kits are four-piece sacrificial-anode sets for compatible Volvo Penta 290-DP and DP-series sterndrives. How Is the 290-C Plus Kit Different from the Standard Kit?

The standard Tecnoseal Volvo Penta 290 DuoProp kit contains one 00704BIS-series ring anode and one 00708-series transom-shield anode.

The Plus/C kit contains those two components plus two 00717-series triangular plate anodes. Select the Plus/C kit where the drive installation uses all four positions.

Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?

• Zinc: A salt-water option where zinc is specified or where the corresponding aluminium anode is not being used.
• Aluminium: Volvo Penta's current recommended alloy for salt and brackish water.
• Magnesium: Recommended for fresh water. Magnesium should not be used in salt or brackish water because of the risk of overprotection and rapid consumption.

Use one matched alloy throughout the selected drive kit. Do not mix zinc, aluminium and magnesium components unless the vessel manufacturer or a qualified marine-corrosion specialist has specified that arrangement.

How Do I Confirm Compatibility?

Before ordering, confirm:

• The drive is a Volvo Penta DuoProp, not a single-prop 290/SP drive.
• The existing drive uses the 00704BIS-pattern ring anode.
• The transom shield uses the 00708-pattern anode.
• Two 00717-pattern triangular plates are fitted.
• The exact drive model appears within the compatible 290-DP or DP-series family.
• The selected alloy matches the vessel's operating water and wider cathodic-protection system.

Installation and Maintenance

Remove all existing anodes and clean each mounting face, fixing point and required electrical-contact surface to clean bare metal. Paint, corrosion products, grease, sealant and other insulating material can prevent the direct electrical continuity required for sacrificial protection.

Fit the ring, transom-shield anode and both triangular plates in their correct positions. Tighten the serviceable fasteners according to the Volvo Penta installation procedure and confirm that every anode is secure and electrically connected to the component it protects.

Do not paint the sacrificial castings or their contact faces. Inspect the anodes during scheduled servicing and replace them when approximately half of the original sacrificial material has been consumed, or earlier if they are cracked, loose or unevenly eroded.

Unusually fast or uneven consumption can indicate an unsuitable alloy, poor electrical continuity, bonding faults, shore-power issues or stray-current activity.
