Ultraflex Complete Light Duty Steering Kit

The Ultraflex T67/T67W Complete Mechanical Steering Kit combines a T67-series rotary helm, black or white 90° bezel, an M58 steering cable in the selected length and a black V38B 350mm steering wheel. Designed for light-duty single-outboard installations up to 40kW / 55HP, the matched kit provides a 230mm cable stroke and approximately 2.5 steering-wheel turns lock-to-lock.

Both options use the same helm design, M58 cable and V38B steering wheel. Only the bezel colour changes.

The steering wheel is black in both kit options. The white-bezel kit does not include a white steering wheel.

What Is This Complete Steering Kit Used For?

The Ultraflex T67 helm converts rotation from the included V38B steering wheel into push-pull movement through the M58 steering cable. The cable transfers this movement to the outboard engine steering assembly.

The kit is designed for:

• Small powerboats
• Single-outboard installations
• Outboard engines up to 40kW / 55HP
• Boats operating at no more than 50 knots / 57.5mph
• Light-duty single-cable mechanical steering
• Dashboards requiring a 90° helm and bezel installation

The complete installation must remain within the lowest power and speed ratings specified for the boat, engine and steering components.

Does the V38B Steering Wheel Fit the T67 Helm?

Yes. The Ultraflex V38B is supplied with a standard 19mm / 3/4in tapered hub for compatible marine steering-helm shafts.

The T67 permits a maximum steering-wheel diameter of 380mm / 15in. The included V38B measures 350mm / 13.8in, placing it within the specified diameter limit.

The wheel has an overall depth of 85mm / 3.3in. Check dashboard, instrument and control clearance before installation.

Does the M58 Cable Need an Adaptor?

No adaptor is required between the included T67 or T67W helm and the Ultraflex M58 steering cable.

The M58 connects directly to the helm using its 7/8in UNF threaded connection nut. The cable is available in one-foot length increments so the appropriate length can be selected for the boat.

Is the Kit Suitable for an Evinrude E-TEC 50?

No. Ultraflex excludes the Evinrude E-TEC 50 from the normal T67 application range.

For an Evinrude E-TEC 50 installation, Ultraflex recommends one of the following alternative steering systems:

• Ultraflex T85
• Ultraflex T71FC
• Ultraflex T91

The four helm positions allow the M58 cable to exit in the most suitable direction for the available space behind the dashboard.

How Do You Select the Correct M58 Cable Length?

For replacement installations:

1. Measure the black outer jacket of the existing steering cable, identified as measurement D in the cable-measuring diagram.
2. Do not include the exposed steering rod, threaded nut or metal end fittings.
3. Add 2ft, approximately 610mm, to the measured outer-jacket length.
4. Select the corresponding M58 cable length in feet.
5. Where the result falls between two available lengths, select the next longer whole-foot cable.

Replacement cable formula: Required M58 cable length = D + 2ft.

Example: If the existing black outer cable jacket measures 10ft, add 2ft and select a 12ft M58 cable.

This method is intended for replacing an existing steering cable. For a new installation, measure the complete planned cable route through the boat and allow sufficient length for gradual bends and engine movement.

Installation Notes

Maintain a minimum M58 cable bend radius of 200mm / 7.9in throughout the installation. Avoid sharp bends, crushed cable sections, unsupported runs and contact with hot or moving engine components.

• The selected M58 cable is the correct length
• The wheel clears the dashboard, instruments and controls
• The steering wheel seats securely on the 19mm / 3/4in tapered shaft
• The cable can move through its full stroke without binding
• The engine can move through its complete steering range
• All shaft keys, retaining hardware and engine connections are serviceable
