What Is This Hydraulic Hose Kit Used For?

The Ultraflex OB/M-60 connects a compatible hydraulic steering helm to a hydraulic cylinder in a single-station marine steering system.

The two hoses carry hydraulic fluid between the helm and cylinder. Turning the steering wheel sends pressurised fluid through one hose while displaced fluid returns through the other.

The kit is intended for:

The two hose kits have different diameters, fittings and system ratings.

KIT OB/M-60:

The OB-GT/M-60 must not be used in place of the OB/M-60 in a 70-bar system. Its hose diameter and maximum permitted pressure are lower.

Can the Hoses Be Cut to Length?

Yes. The unassembled end of each 6m hose can be shortened to fit the boat.

Only approved Ultraflex OB-F5/16 40849U reusable fittings and the correct reinforcing sleeves may be used after cutting.

Before cutting:

• Measure the complete installed hose route
• Leave the factory-assembled end unchanged
• Allow for smooth routing around the boat
• Maintain the 250mm minimum bend radius
• Allow movement at the steering cylinder
• Leave enough length for maintenance and reconnection
• Ensure the hoses will not become tight at either steering limit
• Check both hoses before making either cut

Do not cut a hose until the complete route has been confirmed.

The hoses must not be bent more tightly than the stated radius. Internal hose damage may occur even where the external cover does not appear broken.

Pressure Rating and System Limits

The OB/M-60 is manufactured for steering systems with a maximum relief-valve pressure of:

This is the limiting condition of use, not the normal continuous operating pressure.

The hose rating does not increase the permitted pressure of the helm, cylinder or fittings. The lowest-rated component controls the complete system limit.

The OB/M-60 should not be used with:
