Ultraflex T67 Helm And M58 Steering Cable Light Duty Steering Bundle

The Ultraflex T67/T67W and M58 Mechanical Steering Bundle combines a matched rotary steering helm, black or white 90° bezel and an Ultraflex M58 steering cable in the selected length. It is designed for light-duty, single-outboard powerboats up to 40kW / 55HP, providing a 230mm cable stroke and approximately 2.5 steering-wheel turns lock-to-lock.

What Is This Steering Bundle Used For?

The T67 helm converts steering-wheel rotation into push-pull movement through the included M58 mechanical steering cable. The cable transfers this movement to the outboard engine steering assembly.

The bundle is intended for:

• Small powerboats

Is It Suitable for an Evinrude E-TEC 50?

No. Ultraflex excludes the Evinrude E-TEC 50 from the normal T67 application range.

For an Evinrude E-TEC 50 installation, Ultraflex recommends one of the following alternative steering systems:

• Ultraflex T85
• Ultraflex T71FC
• Ultraflex T91

Confirm the correct helm and cable combination before installation.

The four helm positions allow the cable to exit in the most suitable direction for the available space behind the dashboard.

How Do You Choose the Correct M58 Cable Length?

For replacement installations:

1. Measure the length of the existing black outer cable jacket, identified as measurement D in the cable-measuring diagram.
2. Do not include the exposed steering rod, threaded connection nut or metal end fittings.
3. Add 2ft, approximately 610mm, to the measured jacket length.
4. Select the corresponding M58 cable length in feet.
5. Where the calculated measurement falls between available sizes, select the next longer whole-foot cable.

Replacement cable formula: M58 cable length = D + 2ft.

Example: If the existing outer cable jacket measures 10ft, add 2ft and order a 12ft M58 cable.

This formula is intended for replacing an existing steering cable. For a new installation, measure the complete planned cable route through the boat, allowing for suitable bends and engine movement.

Does the Included Cable Need an Adaptor?

No adaptor is required between the included Ultraflex T67 or T67W helm and the M58 cable.

The cable uses a 7/8in UNF threaded connection nut. The included components are designed to connect directly to one another.

Can the M58 Cable Be Used With Other Steering Helms?

The M58 cable is also listed for direct connection to the following compatible rotary helms:

No cable adaptor is required for these listed helm models. Similar-looking cables and helms are not automatically interchangeable, so confirm the connection, thread, stroke and application before substituting components.

Installation Notes

Maintain a minimum cable bend radius of 200mm / 7.9in throughout the installation. Avoid sharp bends, crushed cable sections, unsupported runs and contact with hot or moving engine components.

The steering wheel must not exceed 380mm / 15in in diameter. Do not install the system on a boat or engine exceeding the permitted steering-system, engine-power or boat-speed ratings.

Marine steering is a safety-critical system. Installation and servicing should follow the current Ultraflex instructions and be completed by a suitably competent marine technician.
