What Is This Steering Helm Kit Used For?

The Ultraflex T67 and T67W convert steering-wheel rotation into push-pull movement through an Ultraflex M58 mechanical steering cable. They are intended for small powerboats with a single outboard engine and a dashboard installation requiring a 90° bezel configuration.

Both models use the same helm design and technical specifications. The difference is the bezel colour and associated part number.

Which Steering Cables Are Compatible?

The T67 and T67W are designed for use with an Ultraflex M58 single mechanical steering cable.

M58 cables are available in one-foot length increments, allowing the cable length to be selected for the boat's steering route. An equivalent M58-type cable should only be used after confirming the helm-side connection, cable stroke and application.

The T67 is not a rack or hydraulic helm and should not be combined with incompatible higher-capacity steering cables.

Which Engines and Boats Is It Suitable For?

The T67 and T67W are designed for:

• Small powerboats
• Single-outboard installations
• Outboard engines up to 40kW / 55HP
• Light-duty single-cable mechanical steering systems
• Boats operating at no more than 50 knots / 57.5mph
• Dashboards requiring a black or white 90° bezel

Ultraflex does not specify a minimum engine power for the T67. The complete steering system must remain within the maximum engine-power and boat-speed ratings specified by the steering-component and boat manufacturers.

Is the T67 Suitable for an Evinrude E-TEC 50?

No. The Evinrude E-TEC 50 is excluded from the normal T67 application range.

For an Evinrude E-TEC 50 installation, Ultraflex recommends one of the following steering helms:

• Ultraflex T91

Installation and Use

Select an Ultraflex M58 steering cable of the correct length for the boat. Route the cable without sharp bends, crushing or contact with hot and moving components, and maintain a minimum bend radius of 200mm / 7.9in.

The helm can be installed in four alternative positions so the steering cable exits in the most suitable direction for the available space behind the dashboard. Steering resistance can be adjusted externally using the standard friction control.

Confirm that the steering wheel does not exceed 380mm / 15in in diameter, the engine does not exceed 40kW / 55HP and the boat does not exceed 50 knots.

Marine steering is a safety-critical system. Installation and servicing should follow the current Ultraflex installation and maintenance instructions and be completed by suitably qualified personnel.
