Designed to combine the storage convenience of an inflatable kayak with a firmer touring-oriented platform, the Navigator 3.0 uses separate inflatable chambers, high-pressure drop-stitch construction and a streamlined hull. • Canals and inland waterways
  • Sheltered estuaries
  • Suitable light coastal conditions
  • Recreational fitness paddling
  • Longer day trips within the paddler's experience and the prevailing conditions

The kayak is intended for sheltered waters and is not suitable for white-water rafting or other extreme sports.

Who Is the Navigator 3.0 Designed For?

The WAVE Navigator 3.0 is a touring and performance-oriented inflatable kayak rather than a wide beginner-focused leisure model. It is suited to paddlers looking for:

  • A streamlined solo kayak
  • Directional tracking for longer-distance paddling
  • A high-pressure drop-stitch platform
  • A kayak that packs into a car boot or storage cupboard
  • Adjustable seating for longer paddling sessions
  • A complete package with paddle, pump, fins and transport bag

WAVE identifies the Navigator's skill level as intermediate or group kayaking. Inexperienced users should obtain suitable instruction and begin on sheltered water in calm conditions.

How Does the Hull Design Affect Performance?

The Navigator 3.0 has a precision-tapered profile with a V-shaped bow and stern. This shape is designed to:

  • Cut through small surface chop more efficiently
  • Reduce the drag associated with wider recreational inflatables
  • Support straighter tracking between paddle strokes
  • Improve glide over longer distances
  • Provide a more touring-focused paddling position
  • Maintain stability through the reinforced multi-chamber structure

Two removable fins provide additional tracking in deeper water. Do not use the fins in shallow water where they could strike the bottom and damage the kayak or reduce manoeuvrability.

Construction and Design

  • Primary construction: 1000D PVC and drop-stitch
  • Hull: Reinforced multi-chamber design
  • Profile: Precision-tapered touring shape
  • Bow and stern: V-shaped
  • Deck surface: EVA foam deck area
  • Inflation: Separate side and floor valves
  • Seat mounting: Adjustable floor track and D-rings
  • Footrest: Adjustable floor-mounted design
  • Carrying: Front, rear and side handles
  • Storage: Integral bungee areas
  • Tracking: Two removable fins
  • Drainage: Integral drain valves

How Do I Set Up the Navigator 3.0?

  • Unroll the kayak on a clean surface free from stones, glass or sharp objects.
  • Inspect the hull, seams, valves and accessories before inflation.
  • Install the removable fins before the kayak is fully inflated.
  • Inflate the side chambers first.
  • Inflate the floor chamber after the side chambers.
  • Inflate the side walls to no more than 15 PSI.
  • Inflate the floor to no more than 10 PSI.
  • Close each valve cap securely.
  • Attach the seat to the floor track and internal D-rings.
  • Adjust the seat straps so the backrest remains upright.
  • Position the footrest on the floor track and adjust its straps.
  • Confirm that the paddle, fins, seat and footrest are secure before launching.

The curved edge of each fin should point towards the stern. Follow the supplied WAVE instruction manual throughout assembly and inflation.

What Inflation Pressure Should I Use?

  • Side chambers: Maximum 15 PSI
  • Floor chamber: Maximum 10 PSI

Use a pump with an accurate pressure gauge. Do not exceed the stated pressure and do not use an unregulated high-pressure compressor.

Air pressure changes with temperature. Pressure can increase when the kayak is left in direct sunlight or hot weather, so release air where necessary to prevent over-pressurisation.

Safety and Use

  • Wear an approved buoyancy aid or personal flotation device.
  • Tell someone your planned route, launch point and expected return time.
  • Check weather, wind, tide and water conditions.
  • Inspect the hull, seams, valves, fins, seat and paddle before use.
  • Do not exceed the 120 kg maximum combined load.
  • Include the paddler, clothing, food, water and equipment when calculating load.
  • Use the kayak only within your experience and paddling ability.
  • Do not paddle while affected by alcohol or drugs.
  • Do not use the kayak for white-water rafting or extreme sports.
  • Avoid paddling alone, particularly on exposed or unfamiliar water.
  • Carry appropriate first-aid and rescue equipment.
  • Follow local navigation rules and access restrictions.

Care and Maintenance

  • Rinse the kayak with fresh water after use in salt or dirty water.
  • Clean it using mild soap and water.
  • Remove sand, gravel and debris from between the floor and side chambers.
  • Allow the kayak and accessories to dry completely before packing.
  • Inspect the hull, seams and valves for wear or leakage.
  • Remove the fins before folding the kayak.
  • Open the valves and release the remaining air before rolling.
  • Store the kayak in a clean, dry location.
  • Protect it from prolonged heat, freezing temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Do not use the transport handles as vehicle tie-down points.
