Description
Description
Tecnoseal 00630 2.5kg zinc hanging mooring anode is a suspended sacrificial anode supplied with a 6m connection cable. It provides temporary supplementary cathodic protection while a vessel is moored or at anchor, provided the cable is connected electrically to the vessel’s bonding system.
What Is This Hanging Anode Used For?
The anode is lowered into the water beside the vessel and connected to a verified bonding point. It can increase available sacrificial-anode capacity during static periods, storage afloat or localised maintenance, but it does not replace correctly sized and installed permanent hull, shaft, propeller or drive anodes.
Key Features
- Brand: Tecnoseal
- Part number: 00630
- Marine Scene SKU: TS-00630
- Product category: Suspended / hanging mooring anode
- Alloy: Zinc
- Nominal anode weight: 2.5kg
- Connection cable: 6m
- Typical water-selection guide: Salt water
- Use: Supplementary protection while stationary
How Is It Connected?
Attach the cable to a clean, electrically verified bonding point specified for the vessel, then suspend the anode fully in the water without allowing it to strike the hull, propeller or seabed. A rope alone does not provide the electrical connection needed for cathodic protection.
Which Anode Alloy Should I Choose?
- Zinc: a conventional choice for salt-water operation.
Use the alloy specified by the vessel, drive or equipment manufacturer and keep the choice consistent with the existing cathodic-protection system. Water salinity, connected metals and stray-current conditions can change the correct selection.
Inspection and Safety
Inspect the cable, terminal, lifting arrangement and zinc body before every deployment. Recover the anode before getting underway. Replace damaged cable or terminals and investigate unusually rapid zinc loss or visible arcing at the connection point.
Alloy Standards and Manufacture
Tecnoseal sacrificial anodes are manufactured in Grosseto, Tuscany. Alloy batches are checked using spectrometric analysis and produced to the applicable current US-MIL alloy specifications used by Tecnoseal for zinc, aluminium and magnesium marine anodes.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does this replace the vessel’s fixed anodes? No. It is supplementary and temporary; keep the permanent anode system correctly maintained.
- Will it work if it is simply tied over the side? No. The connection cable must make reliable electrical contact with the vessel’s bonding system.
- Can it be left deployed while moving? No. Recover and secure it before the vessel gets underway.
